FAQ
Do you need to have prior experience before joining martial arts?
Our martial arts classes welcome beginners of all levels, so prior experience is not a requirement for joining.
Starting martial arts training is a great way to improve physical fitness, self-defence skills, self-confidence, stress relief, discipline, and focus.
Which martial art style should I chose to train in?
Both Karate and Muay Thai have their unique techniques and benefits.
Karate is a striking art that focuses on powerful punches, kicks, and blocks. It emphasises discipline, respect, and self-defence.
Muay Thai, on the other hand, is a combat sport, and is known for its use of elbows, knees, and clinching techniques. It is a high-intensity workout that can improve your overall fitness, agility, and strength.
At what age should I start training?
There's no one size fits all answer to the question of when to start training martial arts, as it depends on your individual goals, interests, and physical abilities. However, it's never too early or too late to start learning self-defence techniques and improving your physical fitness. If you're interested in martial arts, the best time to start is now.
How long will it take me to reach black belt?
The time it takes to earn a black belt can vary widely depending on a number of factors. In general, it takes several years of consistent training, dedication, and hard work to achieve this level. The exact timeline depends on the student's natural ability and level of commitment.
It's important to remember that earning a black belt is not the ultimate goal of martial arts training; rather, it's a symbol of the student's dedication to lifelong learning and personal growth.
Will training martial arts help me lose weight?
Training martial arts can be an effective way to lose weight and improve overall physical fitness. Our Muay Thai classes are high-intensity workouts that can burn a significant number of calories in a short amount of time.
Martial arts training can help build lean muscle mass, which can increase metabolism and help burn fat even when you're not actively exercising.
However, it's important to remember that weight loss comes down to a combination of diet and exercise. While martial arts training can be a valuable component of weight loss, it's important to maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle.
Will training martial arts cause my child to become violent?
Training martial arts does not cause children to become violent. In fact, martial arts training can have the opposite effect, teaching children discipline, respect, and self-control. Our school emphasise the importance of non-violent conflict resolution and teach students to avoid physical altercations whenever possible.
By learning self-defence techniques and developing confidence in their abilities, children may actually become less likely to resort to violence in confrontational situations.
